Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community had expressed its support for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
