The Olympic champion concluded her two-lap campaign with a triumph at the all-female Athlos meet in New York on Friday night.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who secured bronze at the World Championships recently, excelled in an outstanding victory in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a season impacted by a muscle issue.

"I haven't competed much this year so it was probably easier for me to go out there and be motivated to perform," stated the 23-year-old.

"The environment at the event is crazy so it was really, really fun."

The female-exclusive event packed the stadium in its second year, bringing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with musical performances and special crowns substituting traditional winners' medals.

Previous champions received $60,000 (£44,603) - one of the largest prize purses in athletics.
