The DCU Series Second Season Finale to Resolve Major Fan Complaint, Showrunner Gunn Reveals

While audience feedback for Peacemaker season 2 has been mostly positive, with fans and critics praising the performances and storyline—even if the major revelation in the seventh installment wasn't exactly a shock—a particular criticism has intensified as the season continues: dwindling runtime lengths.

Over the past few episodes, audience members have voiced frustration over the significantly reduced runtimes this season, and it's true, the installments have been getting shorter and shorter. Episode 7, called “Like a Keith in the Night,” lasted only 28 minutes (excluding the summary, opening credits, and end credits), making it the shortest episode so far.

Fans will be pleased to learn the upcoming finale is nearly an hour in length.

Series creator and DCU boss Gunn wrote via social media, replying to a viewer's concern.

Despite this news, it remains unclear what portion of the runtime will be brand-new content, uncluttered by intro and outro segments, or summaries of past episodes. That said, even if the finale includes all the previously mentioned non-essential content, that still leaves between 45 and 50 minutes for the concluding episode, which is a significant improvement after episode 7.

The director earlier teased that the last episode would not only wrap up Peacemaker but also give a hint regarding the future the broader DC Universe as a whole will be moving and act as a kind of precursor for the next Superman movie. Given the cameo of Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor from the sixth installment, many are anticipating a juicy cameo to conclude the show.

Peacemaker's finale, the eighth episode, is titled "The Full Nelson," and audiences must wait to see if fans' suspicions are proven correct.
