Unveiling a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have discovered numerous engaging independent titles. But, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game features a character that is actually a turd attempting to travel to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is simple: you only need a jump control. Throughout 150 levels, encounter tough enemies and unlock a shop to acquire outfits for your dung hero.

Plan your actions carefully, since one error means restarting the level. Bounce using bubbles to hurl the poop higher, navigate crumbling ledges, and touch triggers to open secret routes. Gather UN-KOINS to purchase more difficult levels as things gets crazy.

Visually, the game features neon environments and catchy soundtrack. The retro visual style featuring shifting geometric shapes may remind fans of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to name similar titles where you control a dung character, interactive entertainment have long incorporated fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can craft explosives from character droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, this theme appears heavily in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its silly concept, Unko Technica has already received impressive awards, like winning at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. The demo is available currently on Steam, with the complete version planned to launch on Steam this November.
